Quad, Santa Rosa Island is a survey station established in 1934 by Robert W. Knox It was located

“on top of the flat top hill that leads up to station Alta 2. The best way to reach the station is to make a boat landing on the sand beach in front of the old ranch house about 2 miles south of Sand Point, and follow the first fork to the right. Follow up the hill between the forks to the station. The rocky point on which hydrographic mark Oar is located and Devil's Peak on Santa Cruz Island are approximately on line at the station.”
