November 26, 1955 [Seattle Post-Intelligencer]: “3 crewman safe as boat burns. Avalon, Calif., Nov. 25.—Three crewmen were saved yesterday when the 41-foot fishing boat J. A. Russo burned and sank off Catalina Island. The ship was sunk by a fire that broke out in the galley while the crewmen hauled in a load of sardines off the Catalina Isthmus. ”
