April 18, 1935 [TI/Avalon]: “On Thursday afternoon death entered the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lee James, well known in Avalon, and carried off the wife—Rose. Local services were held a 9 A.M. Saturday, at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, and were largely attended. That afternoon the remains were taken to Wilmington. The Rosary was held there Saturday night, and the interment took place at the Wilmington Cemetery on Monday morning at 9 o’clock, under the direction of Ivy H. Overholtzer, Inc., funeral directors. Mrs. James was the daughter of Joe Adargo; sister of Mrs. Pauline McClintock, Mrs. Esther Tavernier, Mrs. Catalina Godman, Alex Everett and Pete Adargo. She was 42 years of age, and had been in poor health for quite a number of years. Some time ago she had to have a limb removed because of an infection, and has been seen but little by her Avalon friends since. She gradually failed in health until the final summons came. The many friends of her husband and her family have the sympathy of the community in their bereavement.”
