There are about a dozen homemade cement markers on East Anacapa Island commemorating events by U.S Coast guardsmen stationed on the island from the 1940s through the 1960s. There are groups of memorials at the lighthouse and the visitor center, as well as a marker behind the water storage "church" for M. M. Fox, who was killed on the island.
