Alolkoy
Alolkoy (A'lul'quoy)
First published in Spring, 1988 as the magazine of Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary. A'lul'quoy, the original name of the publication, is the Chumash word for dolphin. The publication began as a semi-annual joint publication of Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary and the Sea Center of the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History.
With the Summer 1993 issue (Volume 6, #l), the publication took on the new name spelling (Alolkoy); it became a quarterly; it dropped the affiliation with the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History; and it became smaller in size. The changes coincided with the 1993 arrival of Lieutenant Commander John A. Miller as sanctuary manager.
