May 10, 1918 [SDET]: “Kelp harvester to be repaired. The kelo harvester Bacchus, of the Hercules Power Company, is back in port after a few weeks of precarious balancing on a pinnacle rock of San Clemente Island, where for a time it was thought the vessel would fail to survive the pounding of the seas. Filled with empty barrels the hull was kept afloat and finally floated free on an extreme high tide. Here in port it will be overhauled and then towed to Long Baech for refitting.”
