CAIRE, Delphine “Dede”
CAIRE, Delphine “Didi” Aimee (1906-2000)[SS#560-20-7516], granddaughter of Justinian Caire and fourth of five daughters born to Frederic and Lillian Caire. Dede and her four sisters [Jeanne, Helene, Marie and Vivienne] were born in Oakland, California and attended Holy Names through high school. Dede attended U.C. Berkeley and worked as an executive secretary for Foreman's Fund for 25 years. She and her three unmarried sisters all lived together in the Marina District of San Francisco for decades. In the later years, Dede, Marie and Helen moved into Mercy Retirement and Care Center in Oakland.
In 1996 the three spinstress Caire sisters all moved to Mercy Retirement Center in Oakland, CA, where they lived until their respective deaths: Marie died in 2002, just shy of her 100th birthday on July 12. Sisters Helen and Vivienne (married) also died in 2002; Delphine died in 2000.

November 27, 1927 [OT]: “A number of smart teas have brightened the social calendar during Thanksgiving week. The younger set foregathered Tuesday afternoon for tea at the home of Mrs. Frederic F. Caire of Lee Street who with her daughters, Miss Helen and Miss Delphine Caire, entertained in compliment to the two elder daughters of the household, Miss Albina and Miss Marie Caire, who have been in Europe for some length of time. A number of the younger set with Miss Vivienne Caire assisted in receiving.”
December 30, 1928 [OT]: “Miss Delphine Caire and Miss Marie Caire entertained Friday afternoon at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank [sic] Caire in Lee Street, Oakland, at a bridge and tea at which they honored their sister, Miss Lillian Caire. The latter has been visiting during the holiday season with her parents and sisters from her home in Hollywood.”
