CAMPBELL, Vaidehi (1978-2019) was one of the casualties of the September 2, 2019 fire aboard the dive boat Conception at Platt's Harbor, Santa Cruz Island. She was 41 years old, about to turn 42 on September 5.

September 5, 2019 [KSBW8]: “SOQUEL, Calif. —A Soquel woman was identified by her employer as one of the 34 dead or missing passengers on the dive boat that caught fire off the Santa Cruz Islands. In an e-mail sent out to their customers, the Soquel Creek Water District announced that Vaidehi Campbell was among the victims. "Vaidehi Campbell was a beloved member of the Soquel Creek Water District family. As the District’s Communications Specialist, her entire career was spent sharing her exuberance with the community about our District’s water supply and the importance of preserving and protecting our precious resource," read the email. Campbell had been working at SCWD since 1999, when she started as a summer intern. "We will all remember Vai in her water droplet costume at the Santa Cruz County Fair, Earth Day in the Park, and at the Water Harvest Festival. She brought joy to work every day and was a dear friend to all of us. May we always remember her infectious smile, kind heart, vast knowledge, and adventurous spirit," read the note.”
