Henry Ward Carriger (1876-1949)

CARRIGER, Henry Ward (1876-1949) [SS#547-050587], native Californian born in Sonoma who visited Santa Cruz Island March 25-April 5, 1927 with fellow ornithologists J. R. Pemberton, Ozora W. Howard and Dudley S. DeGroot. A year before his death he was voted an Honorary Membership into the Southern Division of the Cooper Ornithological Society.

On October 1, 1949 Carriger was hit by a car and died soon thereafter. He was 73. He was survived by his wife, Carolyn, son Gerald, and four married daughters. Carriger’s extensive egg collection was acquired by Miss Jean Bell of Ridley Park, Pennsylvania.
