February 6, 2006 [SBNP]: “Laurence “Jack” Castagnola left this world on February 4, 2006 at the age of 88. He was born in Santa Barbara to Salvatore and Cecilia Castagnola and was one of eight brothers and three sisters. He had a great love for the sea and spent his life as a commercial fisherman. His boat Cecilia has been a well-known member of the local fishing fleet. Jack had a kind and generous spirit and will be remembered and greatly missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind his wife, Kathryn, daughter Maureen Lawson, Son Tim Castagnola, step-daughters Christine Swanson, Rhonda Crowell, Marsha Lawson, six grand-children and five great-grandchildren. With deep appreciation to the visiting Nurse and Hospice Care of Santa Barbara, and for the kindness and care of all those who assisted Jack and the family in his last years. Services will be held at Welch-Ryder-Haider Funeral Chapel on Thursday, February 9, 2006 at 6:00 P.M. Donations may be made in his name to Hospice Care of Santa Barbara.”
