Long Beach — A man disappeared while skin diving Sunday off the west side of Catalina Island, and the Coast guard presumed he drowned. The victim's companions said they became alarmed when bubbles from his oxygen tank quit breaking the surface. They said they were unable to attempt a rescue at the depth because they had no oxygen tanks aboard their boat, the ''Marden''. A sports fishing craft notified the Coast Guard, which flew county life guards to the scene. But efforts to locate the missing man were unsuccessful. The victim was identified as Dean COnnery, 22, of 1775 E. 105th St., Los Angeles.”
