June 4-17, 1999 [Log]: “Two people were rescued from their sinking boat near Santa Cruz Island May 29 before the vessel grounded on the rocks close to the shore. The 45-foot Casablanca, a 1968 Hunter powerboat, began taking on water from a leak that morning... The partially submerged boat drifted into the rocks and began to break apart. The sinking caused a fairly large fuel slick (approximately 80 gallons), but it was a gas powered boat and gas will evaporate...”
