Chelan (#233743) (1935-1978), 47-foot wool-hulled fishing vessel which collided with the Sansinena II in the Santa Barbara Channel on February 26, 1978. She was in the shipping lanes about two miles off Santa Cruz Island at the time of her accident. She sank immediately, and her crew was rescued. Chelan was a 34 ton vessel, and Sansinena II was a 35,633 ton vessel. [MVUS 1979]
