Del Rio (#234477) (1935-1952), 78-foot wood-hulled purse seiner which was destroyed by fire off Anacapa Island on October 28, 1952 [MVUS 1953/1954]. All eleven men aboard were rescued, while the burning boat drifted to Anacapa Island in the vicinity of Frenchy's Cove.

October 29, 1952 [Press Democrat]: “Seiner Catches Fire, 11 Safe. Santa Barbara — Fire broke out on the San Pedro purse seiner Del Rio early yesterday after the engine backfired, and the ship's crew was forced to abandon ship as the blaze spread rapidly. The crew, reported by the Coast Guard to be 11 men, was picked up by the fishing boat Sea Ranger. The Coast Guard said all aboard escaped injury. The fishing boat was nearly three miles off Anacapa Island when the fire broke out.”
