October 2, 1968 [LAT]: “A Santa Monica fireman drowned while scuba diving with two companions off Santa Catalina Island isthmus. Robert Fry, 52, of 22021 Providencia Road, Woodland Hills, was pronounced dead at Avalon Community Hospital after he was picked up by a Coast Guard helicopter.”
