November 19, 1939 [San Bernardino Sun]: “All Crew Rescued as Tuna Clipper Sinks. San Diego, Nov. 18.—Wireless messages told today of the foundering of the $500,000 tuna clipper Flying Cloud off Cedros Island and the rescue of all men in her crew. The boat rammed a reef off the north end of the island, some 500 miles south of here off the coast of Lower California, according to wireless reports from the fishing boat Belle of Portugal. The wreck occurred at 4 a.m. Thursday and the crew was saved by the tuna boat Magnolia, which is bringing them here.”
