August 7, 1952 [Wilmington Daily Press Journal]: “Rescue fishermen off San Clemente Island; boat burns, sinks. Two fishermen were rescued from the sea when their boat burned and sank off San Clemente Island the Coast Guard said today, but three other fishing boats were overdue at ports. The Coast Guard said the two men saved were from the vessel Golden Star, which went down six miles west of San Clemente yesterday. Rescued were Andrew Kuglis and John Oreb, both of San Pedro.”
