HUSE, Charles Enoch

HUSE, Charles Enoch (1825-1898), bilingual attorney from Massachussetts who became a powerful attorney in Santa Barbara and who made his early living acting as an interpreter for Judge Joaquin Carrillo, who spoke little English. Huse owned a building at the Isthmus on Santa Catalina Island in the early 1860s which was to “be turned over for the use of troops sent to that place.”
