JORGENSEN, Robin Claude Soren Jorgensen(1929-1949) [#559-382-894], born in Los Angeles, CA, drowned abalone diving on September 6, 1949 when his air compressor failed. He was 20 years old and the son of Niels and Heidi Jorgensen.

September 7, 1949 [Bakersfield Californian]: “Diver drowns. Santa Catalina Island. Failure of his air compressor was blamed today for the death of Robin Claude Soren Jorgensen, 20, professional abalone diver. Jorgensen, of North Hollywood, drowned in 50 feet of water in Little Harbor on the west side of Santa Catalina Island yesterday.”

Robin Claude Soren Jorgensen, 20, professional abalone diver of North Hollywood, drowned in 50 feet of water in Little Harbor on the west side of Santa Catalina Island yesterday. His Air compressor failed after his 40-pound lead diving belt became fouled and he was unable to loosen it.”
