Kingfisher II (#) (1916-1992), Monterey hull wooden mooring service vessel used at the Isthmus, Santa Catalina Island for over 30 years, sank at her mooring in 60 feet of water in a northwester winter storm at Isthmus Cove. The boat was used to rig moorings, salvage boats, service docks and floats and provide rigging service to local camps all over the island. The wood boat had popped two planks. The vessel was refloated, brought ashore and crushed with a D-8 Caterpillar.
An old steel Navy LCM, dubbed Kingfisher III was converted to a mooring service vessel as the replacement.
