Legend (#281997) (1951-1967), fin-keeled 43-foot wood-hulled racing yacht stranded and sunk on San Miguel Island. The vessel had been a successful racing yacht in her class, and had sailed the TransPac from the West Coast to Hawaii during her career. Legend won the Transpac in her class in 1957. On San Miguel Island the vessel struck some rocks, ripping out her stainless steel keel. The first inflatable life raft was launched, but was punctured. The second life raft was successfully launched.
