September 15, 1915 [SBMP]: “Ento Miyamatsu, a Japanese sailor, was drowned at Santa Cruz Island late yesterday afternoon. The body was recovered in about twenty minutes and hurried to this city in the hope that something might be done. The Japanese sailed on the Rambler, which, with another vessel sailed from Port Los Angeles with a party of easterners on a fishing trip. The body was taken to the Gagnier Undertaking parlors, where an inquest will be conducted at 9 o’clock this morning.”


September 16, 1915 [SBMP]: “Yesterday morning Coroner Ruiz held an inquest on the remains of Edno Mayamatsu, the Japanese sailor who was drowned at Santa Cruz Island last Tuesday afternoon, and whose body was recovered twenty minutes later and brought to this city and taken to Gagnier's undertaking establishment... The jury returned a verdict of death by accidental drowning.”
