MORAN, Reid Venable (1916-2010) [SS#563-48-7717], Los Angeles-born Curator of Botany at the San Diego Natural History Museum from 1957 to 1982. Moran participated in the Los Angeles County Museum Channel Islands Biological Survey (1939-1941). In March 1950 he collected the type specimen of Dudleya blochmaniae ssp. insularis on Santa Rosa Island near Old Ranch Point. Also in March 1950 he collected the type specimen of Dudleya nesiotica on the west end of Santa Cruz Island. Moran named the Santa Barbara Island dudleya, Dudleya traskiae. He died at age 93 in Clearlake, California and his ashes scattered off Baja California, Mexico. Moran was survived by his daughter, Jenna.
