Mount Torquemada, Santa Catalina Island, 1336 feet in elevation, is the highest point on the west end of the island. It is adjacent to Lobster Bay. It is perhaps named for Fray Juan de Torquemada (c. 1562-1624), biographer of Sebastian Vizcaino, Channel Islands explorer in 1602.
