PEYTON, Lawrence Gorham (1890-1985)[SS#553-16-6740] was a Fillmore-born citrus farmer and serious avocational ornithologist who often went birding with his younger brother, Sidney. He was a life member of the Cooper Club.
Lawrence Peyton made trips to four Channel Islands variously with his brother, Sidney, and fellow ornithologists M. C. Badger, Dudley S. DeGroot, J. R. Pemberton, John S. Rowley, Charles Ashworth and Richard E. Thompson.

L. G. Peyton published four articles in Condor between 1909-1918.
Peyton died of a heart attack at age 95 in Santa Barbara, California on August 8, 1985. He is buried in Bardsdale Cemetery. His wife predeceased him, and was survived by his son, Harry, and daughter, Doris Guthrie.
Peyton correspondence (1909-1929) is in the files of the Museum of Vertebrate Zoology, Berkeley. Peyton’s egg collection is located at the Western Foundation of Vertebrate Zoology.
Peyton collected at least seven Bald Eagle egg sets on Santa Cruz and Anacapa islands:
