Ridge, Santa Cruz Island is a survey station established by William E. Greenwell on Thursday, July 26, 1857. “From Mt. Pleasant follow along the ridge eastward. About midway from Mt. Pleasant to the high mountains, the signal is located. The trail from Dr. Shaw’s to Mondran’s Ranch [?] leads just by it. The hill can be easily designated by its red appearance caused by numerous red dwarf bushes upon its peak.”
