SALKIN, Robert David ( c. 1942-1987), SCUBA diver who drowned at Santa Cruz Island on May 31, 1987. Salkin was 45 years old.
The Robert D. Salkin Memorial Scholarship Endowment Fund at Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles was established by the family of Mr. Robert Salkin '76. This scholarship is awarded to a deserving evening student who has chosen law as a second career.

June 1, 1987 [LAT]: “Two men died in separate scuba diving incidents. Lifeguards said Frank Sporer, 65, of Bakersfield was dead on arrival at the USC Marine Center's hyperbaric chamber on Santa Catalina Island, after he lost consciousness after a dive at the Isthmus. And a 46-year-old man died after being airlifted to the hyperbaric chamber at Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks from the western side of Santa Cruz Island, where he lost consciousness after surfacing from a dive.”
June 2, 1987 [LAT]: “A scuba diver who drowned off Santa Cruz Island was identified by a Ventura COunty coroner's office spokesman as Robert David Salkin, 46, a Century City attorney.”
