SHERMAN, Father Thomas

SHERMAN, Father Thomas Ewing (1856-1933), son of the famous general of the Civil War, William Tecumseh Sherman, who became a Catholic priest. He was named after his maternal grandfather Thomas Ewing, a U.S. Senator and cabinet secretary.
In 1929, Father Thomas Sherman was living in Santa Barbara. He accepted the Caire family's invitation to celebrate the Christmas masses in the Holy Cross Chapel on Santa Cruz Island.
