SMITH, Franklin J.

SMITH, Franklin J. (1879-1942)[SS#567-14-8978], ornithologist and taxidermist active in Humboldt County and resident of Eureka after the turn of the century. There is a Franklin Smith Rock along the Mendocino Coast known as a breeding ground for Ashy Storm-Petrels.
In 1911 Smith advertised in the Oologist:
- “Wanted: Steven's pocket shot gun. Also A 1 sets with good data. Offer mounted birds, skins, and eggs personally taken. Will collect shrews and small mammals and mount them if desired. FRANKLIN J. SMITH. P.O. Box 98, Eureka, Cal.”
