Suwa (#) (-1922)

In the News~

March 28, 1922 [Oakland Tribune]: “Fate of schooner's crew is in doubt. Los Angeles, March 28. — Radio queries were dispatched today in an effort to learn the fate of the crew of the five-ton fishing schooner Suwa of San Pedro, which was discovered wrecked on the rocks of San Clemente Island by Captain Charles Martenson, captain of the coast guard cutter Tingard. Captain Martenson reported the wreck upon the arrival of the cutter at San Pedro. He said that the schooner had evidently been blown on the rocks during the storms of several weeks ago and that he believed the crew of the Suwa had taken to small boats and had probably been picked up by a southbound steamer.”
