Toyon (#)(1959- ), glass-bottom boat added to the fleet at Santa Catalina Island in 1959, was built at a cost of $28,000. Toyon, a diesel-powered launch resembling a Spanish galleon, was used for trips to the undersea gardens. The boat was built of plywood, with wide, one-inch thick sections of glass for unobstructed underwater viewing.
