Valley Peak, Santa Cruz Island is a survey station established by William E. Greenwell and his aid, Preston C. F. West on Tuesday, October 14, 1856:

“The station is on top of the highest peak of the ridge bordering the valley on the north side, in an easterly direction from Dr. Shaw’s house. The best way of getting to it is to follow the valley to the foot of the hill and then ascend.

This triangulation station appears as Valley Peak 1 on the Santa Cruz Island Sheet C topographic map.

The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1996.
