November 9, 1970 [LAT]: “A 28-year-old Westminster woman drowned while scuba diving in shallow water off Santa Cruz Island. She was identified as Mrs. Beverly Wight, who was diving with a group when she suddenly surfaced without her mouthpiece. Her sister, Mrs. Barbara Savino, and another diver took her to a rock, where they unsuccessfully tried artificial respiration. She was later airlifted from a boat by a Coast Guard helicopter to St. John's Hospital here, where she was pronounced dead.”
