Yaquina

Yaquina (#27618) (1881-1897), 120-foot, 355 gross ton wood-hulled commercial passenger cargo steamer built in Portland, Oregon and soon sold to the Pacific Coast Steamship Company. They operated her on their southern routes out of San Francisco, and according to Santa Cruz Island Company records, she serviced Santa Cruz Island in 1891 and 1895. Yaquina suffered from a large fire on board in 1882, she struck a rock in 1888, and on April 11, 1897 she went ashore in a dense fog near the Port Hueneme wharf due to a navigational error, and was a total loss.
