October 29, 1960: [San Bernardino County Sun: “Boat Burns, but Crew of 10 Safe. Long Beach—An 83-foot fishing boat burned and sank early yesterday southwest of Santa Catalina Island, but the 10 crewmen escaped injury, the Coast Guard reported. When the purse seiner Zephyr went down about 4 miles off the island, the crew members were picked up by another fishing boat, the North Queen. Cause of the fire aboard the boat owned by Peter and Joe Marlovich, San Pedro, was not determined.”
