San Salvador, name given to Santa Cruz Island by the Cabrillo expedition of 1542 after one of his two ships. “...in leaving the port, a heavy storm from the west-northwest struck them, which made them put into the other island of San Lucas, and they anchored off the island of Limun, to which they gave the name of San Salvador. ”
